EUROPEAN COUNCIL DECISION (EU) 2019\/508<\/p>\n

of 22\u00a0March 2019<\/p>\n

appointing a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank<\/p>\n

THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL,<\/p>\n

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 283(2),<\/p>\n

Having regard to the recommendation of the Council of the European Union\u00a0(1<\/span>),<\/p>\n

Having regard to the opinion of the European Parliament\u00a0(2<\/span>),<\/p>\n

Having regard to the opinion of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank\u00a0(3<\/span>),<\/p>\n

Whereas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/colgroup>\n\n\n

The term of office of Mr Peter PRAET, member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, expires on 31\u00a0May 2019. It is therefore necessary to appoint a new member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n<\/colgroup>\n\n\n

The European Council wishes to appoint Mr Philip R. LANE, who, in its view, fulfils all the requirements set out in Article 283(2) of the Treaty,<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:<\/p>\n

Article 1<\/p>\n

Mr Philip R. LANE is hereby appointed a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank for a term of office of eight years as from 1\u00a0June 2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Article 2<\/p>\n

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
