SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE<\/p>\n

The application concerns the applicants\u2019 conviction on the basis of self\u2011incriminating confessions obtained from them by means of torture. Moreover, the courts relied on statements of co-accused persons which had been deemed unreliable in a different but identical set of criminal proceedings relating to the same facts. The case is a follow-up to Levin\u021ba v.\u00a0Moldova<\/em>, no. 17332\/03, 16 December 2008.<\/p>\n

The applicants complain that the criminal proceedings against them were not fair within the meaning of Article 6 \u00a7 1 of the Convention.<\/p>\n
