Sky Mote.&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nSECTION 1. FINDINGS.<\/p>\n<p>Congress finds the following:<br \/>\n(1) Staff Sergeant Sky Mote, USMC, grew up in El Dorado,<br \/>\nCalifornia.<br \/>\n(2) Staff Sergeant Mote graduated from Union Mine High<br \/>\nSchool.<br \/>\n(3) Upon graduation, Staff Sergeant Mote promptly enlisted<br \/>\nin the Marine Corps.<br \/>\n(4) Staff Sergeant Mote spent 9 years serving his country in<br \/>\nthe United States Marine Corps, including a deployment to Iraq<br \/>\nand two deployments to Afghanistan.<br \/>\n(5) By his decisive actions, heroic initiative, and resolute<br \/>\ndedication to duty, Staff Sergeant Mote gave his life to protect<br \/>\nfellow Marines on August 10, 2012, by gallantly rushing into<br \/>\naction during an attack by a rogue Afghan policeman inside the<br \/>\nbase perimeter in Helmand province.<br \/>\n(6) Staff Sergeant Mote was awarded the Navy Cross, a Purple<br \/>\nHeart, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, a Navy-Marine<br \/>\nCorps Achievement Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons and three<br \/>\nGood Conduct Medals.<br \/>\n(7) The Congress of the United States, in acknowledgment of<br \/>\nthis debt that cannot be repaid, honors Staff Sergeant Mote for<br \/>\nhis ultimate sacrifice and recognizes his service to his<br \/>\ncountry, faithfully executed to his last, full measure of<br \/>\ndevotion.<br \/>\n(8) A presently unnamed peak in the center of Humphrey Basin<br \/>\nholds special meaning to the friends and family of Sky Mote, as<br \/>\ntheir annual hunting trips set up camp beneath this point; under<br \/>\nthe stars, the memories made beneath this rounded peak will be<br \/>\ncherished forever.<br \/>\nSEC. 2.
