SHORT TITLE.<\/p>\n<p>This Act may be cited as the &#8220;Connected Government Act&#8221;.<br \/>\nSEC. 2. FEDERAL WEBSITES REQUIRED TO BE MOBILE FRIENDLY.<\/p>\n<p>(a) Amendment.&#8211;Subchapter II of chapter 35 of title 44, United<br \/>\nStates Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:<br \/>\n&#8220;Sec. 3559. &lt;&lt;NOTE: 44 USC 3559.&gt;&gt; Federal websites required to<br \/>\nbe mobile friendly<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(a) &lt;&lt;NOTE: Time period.&gt;&gt; In General.&#8211;If, on or after the date<br \/>\nthat is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section, an<br \/>\nagency creates a website that is intended for use by the public or<br \/>\nconducts a redesign of an existing legacy website that is intended for<br \/>\nuse by the public, the agency shall ensure to the greatest extent<br \/>\npracticable that the website is mobile friendly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(b) Definitions.&#8211;In this section:<br \/>\n&#8220;(1) Agency.&#8211;The term `agency&#8217; has the meaning given that<br \/>\nterm in section 551 of title 5.<br \/>\n&#8220;(2) Mobile friendly.&#8211;The term `mobile friendly&#8217; means,<br \/>\nwith respect to a website, that the website is configured in<br \/>\nsuch a way that the website may be navigated, viewed, and<br \/>\naccessed on a smartphone, tablet computer, or similar mobile<br \/>\ndevice.&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>(b) Technical and Conforming Amendment.&#8211;The table of sections at<br \/>\nthe beginning of chapter 35 of title 44, United States Code, is<br \/>\namended &lt;&lt;NOTE: 44 USC 3501 prec.&gt;&gt; by adding after the item related to<br \/>\nsection 3558 the following new item:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;3559. Federal websites required to be mobile friendly.&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>(c) &lt;&lt;NOTE: Deadline. Consultation.
